Taste of the World Festival: Travel the globe without leaving LA
Jul 16, 2010
Los Angeles’s Taste of the World Festival takes place over 22 acres of movie studio magic this November. Five continents (North and South America, Europe, Asia and Oceania) will be created and guests will travel between continents to find food, culture and entertainment unique to each place.
Delicious food from across the globe will keep festival-goers happy. The “tastes," or seven-inch sample platters, will run between $2 and $4 on average, but you’ll have to use Chevere coins, the festival’s currency, to purchase them. One coin is equal to $1, and there will be ATM machines throughout the festival.
The festival provides not only food and drink, but also live entertainment. Children and adults can enjoy the mobile street performers, clowns, face-painters and dancers wandering around the festival. There will even be cooking expositions taking place during the three days of food and fun.
Some interesting competitions are in the works as well, including The Next Stand-Up Comic, Are You the Next Superstar?, Are You the Next Celebrity Chef?, Dancing with the LA Stars and The Next Event Planner. If you’re interested in participating in one of these competitions, visit the website for applications and more details.
Scope out the festivals different pavilions to find the theme that rings true to your heart. You’ll find a Green World Pavilion, a Technology Pavilion, a World Travel Pavilion, a Healthy World Pavilion, a Children’s World Pavilion and a pavilion dedicated to Uniting the World through Food-Wine-Music-Dance. There will be representatives from airlines, caterers, restaurants, travel agencies, consulates and more. Talent, art, music, food and wine make this festival bursting with culture and warmth.
This year’s festival will promote green practices by offering many recycling bins throughout the festival, as well as announcing recycling reminders from the loudspeakers. The festival is brought to LA by AyQueChèvere Productions, Inc., and retail and food vendors are still welcome to apply to reserve a spot. AyQueChèvere expects attendees from LA as well as neighboring counties and even neighboring states.
HelloMetro Tip: Consider purchasing a three-day pass or a family pass to get a better admission rate. Check the website for more details on ticket prices. And don’t forget to pencil in the festival on Nov. 5-7, 2010. The website will offer promotions for ticket prices, so don't miss your chance for a discount!
