Coogie's Cafe: Breakfast is served on Santa Monica Boulevard

Jun 15, 2010

Located on Santa Monica Boulevard between Yale and Stanford, Coogie's Cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner at affordable prices.

With seating indoors and outdoors, many customers prefer the outdoor patio over-looking Santa Monica Boulevard. It can be interesting people-watching on a slow Saturday morning. Inside the cafe, sunlight streams in from the large windows, so even indoor seating at Coogie's can brighten up your attitude.

If you enjoy omelets in the afternoon, you'll be delighted to learn that Coogie's serves breakfast all day, every day. The omelets are also made with four eggs, so they're sure to curb your hunger, at least for a few hours. The coffee is strong, and the servers do their best to keep your cup of Joe filled. If you show up later on a Saturday morning, the booths by the windows might all be occupied. This is a place in Santa Monica where ladies come to meet for brunch, whether they're 20 years old or 80 years old. You'll see people of all ages enjoying the scenery and cuisine at Coogie's.

Breakfast favorites are the spicy Bayou scramble for $8, which features eggs scrambled with tomato, onion, bell peppers and spicy sausage with a side of home-style potatoes and the country breakfast, $8, which includes crispy and hearty bacon, eggs, gravy and biscuits.

You can choose between mimosas, fresh orange juice, grapefruit juice, coffee, tea, beer or wine to wash down your meal.

While the breakfast is arguably the most popular menu here, they've also got sandwiches, soups, salads and diner-style entrees like meatloaf, steak and chicken dishes. The chili is quite tasty and, paired with a club sandwich, it can warm customers up during the occasional cold southern California day.

HelloMetro Tip: If you're looking to be served quickly, take a seat in the front beneath the Coogie's Cafe sign. You might get more immediate attention, especially during the restaurant's more busy hours, since servers pass by the counter on their way to the kitchen. Also, if you're a Santa Monica or West LA resident, look for coupon mailers; they frequently mail out coupons for 50 percent off an entree with the purchase of a second entree and two drinks.
