Thomas A. Edison Middle School Reviews
Quality Score: 4 Post Date:2009-03-18
“I attended ThomasAlva Edison on 2003-2004 and my experiences were amazing. There was alot of gang related people thatwere disrespectful but his school showed me the true meaning of life and also showed me that if I wanted to become someone I had to ignore things around me and move on with my life because only the strongest survive. I would recommend this school because it makes you responsible for yourself and gives you great opportunities and prizes if you do.” This review was posted by a student.

“I was a student at Edison Middle School and my experiences there were not good. Teachers there weren't the best, they were not very helpful in teaching and the staff there wasn't great either. I remeber seeing fights every two or three days. This school's conditon on the inside was very poor, the AC broke down on those hot summer days. Edison Middle School is too small to have more than 2,000 students attending. They recently remodeld this school to hide whats really inside. This school might look nice and elegant on the outside but on the inside, it was a living nightmare.” This review was posted by a student.

“I think the API growth is great! I am glad that the principal we currently have cares about the students and is making positive changes....just visit the campus and you can see the difference!” This review was posted by a parent.

“I was a student at Edison Middle School from 2000-2002. The school was under mass improvement with Ms. Banton as principal. She did a remarkable with the little time she was there and should be applauded. Test scores rose and the overall appearance of the school improved. Education in the gifted program is challenge and kept up to date. There are no sports extracurricular but there is a great leadership and music program.” This review was posted by a student.

“Since the school has received a new prinicpal I have seen improvement in overall discipline at the school. The new leadership has been a positive change to the climate at Edison Middle School” This review was posted by a parent.

“My daughter is currently attending this school and she is in the gifted program. I think that she is not being challenged enough being a gifted student and all. The teachers spend more time trying to discipline those who dont know how to act instead of teaching those who do. I dont understand how students who dont know how to act get into these programs that are aimed for those who are academically advanced.” This review was posted by a parent.

“I was raised and live in the commnity of Edison Middle. I am a also a former student and teacher of Edison Middle. Edison is in high need of good, effective, and dynamic leadership, from wise, grounded administrators, beginning with the principal, to caring, hard-working teachers, and more pro-active parents and community leaders.” This review was posted by a teacher.

“This school for me is great. There are many activities in this school that encourage students like me. For example: during the CAT6 testing they raffled free CD players for the students that took the test everyday. Another reward is seeing movies because of not being tardy to your classes. There are also many fun electives such as Leadership, AVID, and Music. This school also has after-school programs such as the Talent Search which provides tutoring, and the Arnold's All Stars Program. During lunch and nutrition the principal of the school Mrs. Banton can be seen outside looking out for the students. This school is a very good one.” This review was posted by a student.

“I'm a very unhappy mother because the students behave badly and disrespectfully towards staff and each other with no consequence. Administartion seems to feel hiding it is better than dealing with it. The sadest part is that it is so crowded in each room (38 - 42 students per teacher) that I don't know how they will ever learn anything. Many of the students get hurt by other students in that school and nothing is done to fix the problem. My son will no longer go to this school because I know my son deserves better than this. Parents please don't send your child to Edison if you really love them.” This review was posted by a parent.
